Parents have a right to know what's being taught to their children. And the school has an obligation to prepare students for College by focusing on core subjects like Math, Science, English and History. As a school committee member I'll fight for parental rights and classroom transparency and for a curriculum and materials that teach critical skills and focuses on core subjects.
It's time we brought common sense back to education. As a school committee member I promise to bring your voice to the administration and to bring practical judgment to the work of the school committee. I'll always consider the long term impact of decisions and their affect not only on the school system but also on the taxpayers of Sutton.
Our district has faced significant financial challenges, leading to difficult decisions like program cuts and staff reassignments. We are cutting sports programs. The school committee has to make tough choices and reassign teachers to provide instruction on core subjects, leading to the removal of some electives. On the school committee I'll fight for fiscal responsibility and always keep the taxpayer in mind.
